Farm Tours Currently UNAVAILABLE Until Further Notice.
Please Disregard The Rest Of This Page!
The first Saturday of each month at 10am we give a free, in-depth tour of our farm. Tours last one hour, then we give a one-hour class in how to grow your own food, featuring a new vegetable and specific technique each time. There is some slightly steep terrain on the farm, so come with good walking shoes. Also, make sure to apply sunscreen before your arrival and bring sunglasses and hats.
If you are coming from off-island or perhaps even farther away for a farm tour, please email us to make sure that we aren’t having one of our kid’s birthdays, an anniversary, or something else that we may take an occasional Saturday off for. In this case, we will try to post it on this page also so you’re informed.
These tours are no-holds barred: we’ll answer any questions completely and fully. There were some folks who came on three different farm tours and then went on to build a commercial aquaponics system from the information they got on the farm tours! This is the kind of initiative and excitement about aquaponics we really love to see!
Directions To The Farm
The farm is between the 40 and 41 mile markers on the highway from Hilo to Waimea on the Big Island of Hawaii. Look for the signs that say “FARM TOUR”, on the makai side of the road. There’s also a telephone pole on the same side of the road at our turnoff that’s painted PINK for the first fifteen feet off the ground. You’ll see a three-story peach-colored house with a weird roof. Turn off the highway onto the paved road that is just on the Hilo side of the house, go to the bottom of the road and turn left staying on the pavement, and follow the paved road 500 feet, go left through the first open double steel ranch gate and up the gravel driveway to the peach house; the farm is right there.
